RVFD takes home honors at Bedford Hills Fireman's Parade

Sunday, May 19, 2013  On Saturday May 18th, the Ridgefield Fire Department took home two trophies from the Bedford 110th Anniversary Parade.  Ridgefield VFD took home trophies for Best Out of County and for Best Regulation.



Boot Drive this Saturday

Thursday, December 20, 2012   The Ridgefield Volunteer FIre Department is hosting a boot drive on Saturday December 22nd, from 8-4 in Ridgefield.  Firefighters will be located throughout town including on Main Street in front of town hall, in front of Stop and Shop, and at FIre Headquarters at 6 Catoonah St.

All funds collected wil be donated to the United Ways fund to assist the families affected by the Newtown Tragedy. Please come by and help fill the boots.



RVFD reflects on the Newtown Tragedy

Monday, December 17, 2012   On Friday December 14th, 2012 an unthinkable tragedy occured in the nearby town of Newtown, CT.  As members of the fairfield country community we are all left to reflect on that events of that day and continue to send our support and prayers for all those affected that day.  Our well wishes goes to all families, teachers, students, and members of the emergency services community that lives changed forever that day.

A thank you to the members of the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department Fire Police that spend time in Newtown over the week assisting with traffic detours.  



Structure Fire: Prospect Street

Wednesday, November 14, 2012  At 7:15 am on Wednesday November 14th the RIdgefield Volunteer Fire Department was called to the scene of a structure fire on Prospect Street.  Upon arrival units found a three story multi family house with the top two stories involved with flames and smoke showing.  After a quick interior attack and search the fire was knocked down containing it to the top two stories of the structure.  The fire was knocked down at 7:44 and units started clearing at approximately 8:15.  

Units on scene included Engine 3, Rescue 7, Tanker 12, Truck 8, Car 3, Car 4, and Car 7 of the Ridgefield VFD, as well at Engine 1, Engine 2, Car 1, Car 2, Medic 1, and Medic 2 of the RFD.

The Fire Marshals office is investigating the cause of the fire.  



Hurricane Sandy

Tuesday, October 30, 2012  The Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department had a full storm crew on hand for Hurricane Sandy.  Volunteers staffed Engine 3, Tanker 12, Rescue 7, Car 3, and Car 4 for the duration of the storm and at times also had Tanker 10 and Truck 8 responding to calls.  During the storm the department ran a multitude of calls ranging from wires down and burning, to trees on houses with collapse and trapped occupants. 

The RVFD encourages all people to exercise extreme caution while out around town and while at home.  If you have any problems or concerns please contact fire dispatch to report it. 

RVFD crews are expected to be staffing apparatus at headquarters through Wednesday evening. 



Ladies auxillary member passes

Monday, August 20, 2012   It's with deep regret that the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Dept announces the passing of former ladies auxillary member Michelina "Mickey" Abbate.  She was a long time member and her years of service are greatly appreciated.

Her son Bob Roth is also a honorary member of the Ridgefield VFD



Farmingville Road Extrication

Tuesday, August 14, 2012  The RIdgefield VFD responded to a motor vehicle accident on August 13th at 11:31 pm.  Upon arrival an extrication was started to remove the patient from the vehicle.  

Units operating on scene were Rescue 7, Car 4, and fire police of the Ridgefield Volunteer FD as well as Engine 1, Engine 2, Medic 1, and Car 1 of the RFD.  



RVFD responds to Route 7 Extrication

Monday, August 13, 2012   On Sunday August 12th the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department along with the RFD responded to Route 7 at the Ridgefield and Redding town line for a head on motor vehicle accident.  The collision ended up requiring that both vehicles having trapped occupants requiring extrication.  

After a lengthy extrication both patients were safely removed from the cars and transported by members of the RFD for treatment.  

Units on scene were Rescue 7, Car 4, and Fire police of the RVFD and Engine 1, Engine 2, Medic 2, and Car 2 of the RFD.  Units from West Redding FD and Georgetown FD were also operating on scene.   



South Salem Parade

Monday, August 13, 2012   On Wednesday August 8th the Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department participated in the South Salem Fireman's Parade.  The Ridgefield VFD took home honors for Best Rescue Truck and Best Out of State Department.  



RVFD wins at Katoonah Fireman's Parade

Thursday, June 7, 2012   The Ridgefield Volunteer Fire Department took home multiple honors from the Katoonah Fireman's Parade in Katoonah, NY.  The RVFD took home honors for both Best Tanker and Best Rescue Truck.
